Sample over 120 beers and ciders while enjoying live Oktoberfest themed entertainment and traditional German fare. The Oktoberfest (German pronunciation: ɔkˈtoːbɐˌfɛst) is the world's largest Volksfest (beer festival and travelling funfair).Held annually in Munich, Bavaria, Germany, it is a 16- to 18-day folk festival running from mid- or late September to the first Sunday in October, with more than six million people from around the world attending the event every year. Yodel Lay Hee Hoo! It’s time to embrace your inner German and join in for Gold Coast’s biggest authentic German Oktoberfest, presented by Weihenstephan.
A multicultural festival that will allow you to experience traditional German culture in our very own backyard! The iconic Gold Coast Sports and Leisure Centre (2018 Commonwealth Games venue) will play host to Oktoberfest on the Coast launching for the very first time this year on Saturday, October 5.
Based on the history and festivities from centuries past, Oktoberfest on the Coast promises to deliver a traditional, 18+ fun event with a modern day twist. This will be a celebration for all things German, the music, food, beers and most of all, the fun and games!
Patrons will see the Gold Coast Sports and Leisure Centre (rear ovals) transformed into a Bavarian themed festival, complete with giant beer hall, alfresco dining, multiple stages accompanied by authentic German food and beverages.
The German Sausage Hut will provide a mouth-watering selection of German frankfurter with sauerkraut and freshly baked pretzels. There will be a fine selection of beverages on offer, including traditional German brewed beer Weihenstephan and other special German brewed beers from Newstead Brewing Co. A selection of wine and other German favourites will also be available.
Even the entertainment embraces the traditional German Oktoberfest festivities. Music, dance, Mr & Mrs Oktoberfest and a strongman competition! To recreate the atmosphere of the traditional Munich Oktoberfest, the entertainment has been carefully selected not only to showcase German heritage with big brass bands and dancing but also some of Australia’s hottest DJ talent and Gold Coast local DJ’s will keep the outdoor stage entertained.
There’s something for everyone! Drag out your Lederhosen and dirndl and get ready for a day of fun, food, beer and traditional German culture at Oktoberfest on the Coast.
